Dulac’s Lyrics, Pathetic and Humorous (1908) was really bizarre. I only took a few pictures because I didn’t think the illustrations were as visually interesting as most of his other work. Also, a good portion of them were racist. I really like the shrimp boy though, and I think the troubadour on the endpapers is pretty funny and reminds me of the guy in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty who drinks wine out of his lute. You can see the braided rope weights I had to use to keep the books open in some of these pictures. The style of illustration in A Fairy Garland (1928) was unlike anything of Dulac’s I’ve seen before.
